Episode 52 - Final Episode
Days after Mrs. Suh left the house, she comes around Hee-ju's small apartment, looking pale and very
much undecided. Hee-ju lets her in and tells her mother that no matter what, she will not leave
In-tae's side. Apparently, Mrs. Suh has been at the temple, praying that the gods spare In-tae's life
for the sake of the chld. Mrs. Suh takes out a small bank book and gives it to Hee-ju, as she has
saved some money in the months that Hee-ju was pregnant. She has forgiven them and wants to be a
grandma now. Hee-ju refuses at first, but gives in at the insistence of her mother wanting to be a
grandma.
Kyung-ju is outside the door, listening in. She weeps with joy at the reunion of Hee-ju and their
mother, when Dong-hi comes rushing in. He reports that In-tae's condition has worsened and tells
Kyung-ju not to tell her sister so as not to worry her too much, but Hee-ju overhears them and
strongly insists that they go together to the hospital.
The sisters, Mrs. Suh and Dong-hi arrive at the hospital, having left Hee-ju's son with Dong-hi's
parents. Hee-ju cries and holds In-tae's hand and prays to him to hold on for the sake of their son.
Kyung-ju, seeing how her sister is becoming hysterical at the condition of her husband, firmly takes
Hee-ju out for some fresh air to cool her down. Mrs. Suh remains in the room. Sitting besides
In-tae, she gently tells him that she has forgiven the family and that she now understands him for
trying his best to please her despite his standing in society.
At the Kim's residence, Dong-ja hears a baby crying and goes in. Dong-ryul's wife (still not named
here) comes out too after a short nap and hears a baby crying. Both girls go in the room where their
parents are taking care of the baby. All smiles go around upon seeing the cute child, but Mrs. Kim
pities Mr. Kang for such a misfortune befalling his son. Mr. Kim merely agrees and resumes studying
though they continue to discuss the still unnamed child and his father.
Mr. Kang arrives home, seeing Mrs. Cheon, her daughter and Dong-guk and his wife coming out with
their child. Mrs. Cheon asks how his son is, but Mr. Kang merely sighs, asks about their leaving and
walks into his room. Dong-guk and his wife are sent on their way to the Kim's residence with their
newborn baby girl. When Dong-guk and his wife arrive at the Kim residence, his family is happy to
have a second baby at their home. Mr. Kim has not yet decided on a name for his granddaughter.
At the hospital, Mrs. Suh is replaced by Hee-ju and goes home. Dong-hi and Kyung-ju are discussing
In-tae's condition. According to the doctor, the next 2-3 days would be the most critical for In-tae.
If he survives, his chances of recovery increase. Hee-ju holds In-tae's hand tight, not letting go,
sobbing at the fate of her husband. Mrs. Suh arrives home, worrying about the fate of her son-in-law.
Kyung-ju goes back in to replace Hee-ju after some hours. Hee-ju refuses to go home, but Kyung-ju
tells her to rest up first then come back. Hee-ju reluctantly begins to stand up, but an almost
imperceptible twitch of In-tae's hand catches her eye. Suddenly, In-tae's hand slowly begins to
move. Kyung-ju rushes out to call the doctor as Hee-ju starts to cry with joy at the sight of life
returning to her husband.
Mr. Kang and Mrs. Suh are in the lobby talking about how much the past should now be forgotten
and about how they should look more to the future. Dong-hi comes rushing up behind them, telling
them about In-tae's responding body. Both immediately rush behind Dong-hi to In-tae's room. The
doctor and nurses are inside, checking In-tae's condition, as the family waits outside the door. Then
the doctor comes out, telling them the worst is over and that In-tae will pull thru. All bow and thank
the doctor as they weep in joy at the development.
Mr. Kim calls Dong-guk at home, telling Dong-guk that the name of the new baby girl should be
Sun-jil, meaning that she is honest and kind. After that, Dong-hi calls his parents and tells them that
In-tae is going to be okay, and that he and Kyung-ju are coming home to pick up their nephew. After
they arrive, everyone gathers to congratulate Kyung-ju for doing a wonderful job of keeping her
family together and doing her sister's work as well. She smiles and thanks them all for their prayers
for In-tae. Then they take the child and go back to the hospital.
