Our First Meal in Korea After we left Lotte World at about 10 p.m., we walked around looking for a place to eat dinner. About 2 blocks away from our hotel was a restaurant that sold hand-made noodles. They could accommodate the size of our group so we decided to eat there. Most of us ordered jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), which we frequently see people eating in TV dramas. We needed to see what it tasted like for ourselves. We can now attest that IT IS DELICIOUS!!!

Besides experiencing my first meal in Korea, this also was a first for me in enjoying the ondol heating system. We sat on heated wooden floors that felt absolutely wonderful. After coming in from the cold outdoors, the warm floors helped thaw us out. Needless-to-say, those who drank soju probably got thawed out a little quicker.
Jjajangmyeon is actually a "chinese" dish. It is found in Chinese restaurants and noodle shops in Korea. Our jjajangmyeon came with side dishes of daikon (pickled radish) and lettuce with gochujang (hot pepper paste). The meal cost 4,000 won (a little over US$4.00). Tipping was not required.
