Teddy Bear Museum

This is the second tourist attraction that I never would have imagined existed in Korea.  This museum on teddy bears was fun and educational, and I totally enjoyed myself there.  It not only had exhibits on the history of teddy bears, but also showed the history of the world through teddy bears.

Teddy bears originated in 1902 in honor of President Theodore ("Teddy") Roosevelt.  While on a bear-hunting trip, President Roosevelt refused to shoot a small bear cub that was chained to a tree since it would have been poor sportsmanship.  The press later publicized that event in a cartoon and a small stuffed bear was made to resemble the bear in the cartoon.  That was how the first teddy bear came into being.
