                             Cafeteria-style dining

We got to eat our dinner in the MBC cafeteria, where all the MBC workers (including stars) eat.  Unfortunately, there were no celebrities in the cafteria that night (except for us -- haha).
                         On the Menu

Our dinner consisted of seaweed soup, fish, rice, lettuce salad with doenjang (soybean paste) dressing, odeng (fishcake) and garlic in broth, spinach, and kimchi, all served on a stainless steel tray.  The rice, fish and soup were dished out onto our trays by servers, then we proceeded to another area to help ourselves to the side dishes.   I really enjoyed the odeng with garlic in broth.  I remember first learning about odeng in the drama, Golden Era starring Cha In Pyo, Kim Hye Soo and Park Sang Won, where the kids sold it to make money.  This was the first time I was eating odeng with full cloves of garlic in broth.  The garlic was cooked thoroughly and tasted delicious.

Stainless steel chopsticks and a spoon are the utensils provided at every meal.  If you don't already know how to use chopsticks, you should learn how to use them before you go to Korea.  Forks may not be available at all restaurants.  Also, even if you know how to use chopsticks, it may take you awhile to get used to using stainless steel chopsticks since they are flatter and heavier than Japanese or Chinese chopsticks.
