| After lunch, we drove to Yangju where the Dae Jang-geum Theme Park is located. Dae Jang-geum (aka Jewel of the Palace) is a 2003 MBC drama starring Lee Young Ae, Ji Jin Hee and many other stars. It is one of the most popular Korean TV dramas of all times. The drama, set in the Joseon Dynasty, tells the true story of Seo Jang-geum who rose from being a blacksmith's daughter to the first and only female physician of the King in Korean history. Handprints of some of the stars are in the left photo. Jang-geum (Lee Young Ae) and Sir Min (Ji Jin Hee) are in the photo on the right. |

| Note: Since there are no guided tours of the theme park, try to get the park's brochure at the entrance to the park. The brochure has the layout of the structures in the park and explains the significance of each structure. It will certainly enhance your enjoyment of the theme park. Unfortunately, the brochure was not made available to us until we left the park. Thus, my photos on the following pages reflect drama scenes that I recalled (hopefully correctly) as I walked through the park. I can't wait to watch Dae Jang-geum again to see if I can identify all the different structures in the drama. |
