Introduction: This drama is about Kwangjong, the fourth king of the Koryo Dynasty which lasted from 918 to 1392. Factoid: Some scenes of this drama were shot at Mt. Baekdu (elevation: 2,755 meters) in the northeastern part of North Korea. This was the first time that a South Korean TV drama was shot in North Korea. Mt. Baekdu, an extinct volcano, now has a crater lake at its top. To read more about the taping of this drama at Mt. Baekdu, go to a Chosun Ilbo article at: english.chosun.com/w21data/ html/news/200201/200201230360.html Also, for your info, Korea is "Hanguk" (han-guk) in Korean. The English word "Korea" was probably derived from the Korean word "Koguyro," an early dynasty in Korea's history (37 B.C. to 668 A.D.). Korea is also sometimes referred to as "Chosun," which is the name of the last dynasty in Korea (1392 to 1910). That is why there are many Korean restaurants that have the word "Chosun" in their names. |
